Group Research Leadership Development
For early and established faculty members
We take a curriculum-based group coaching model that scaffolds learning and concepts throughout the 8-week program. Meetings generally last 1 hour, with homework that includes activities and reading. The eight sessions cover the most important skill of a leader; gaining the ability to have a more systems-based view of their research enterprise; key methods for establishing and maintaining a productive culture in collaborative groups; concrete tools for setting expectations, holding difficult conversations; concrete tools for early-stage planning for projects/proposals, large and small.

For early stage faculty members
Funding is necessary to establish a sustainable research trajectory, but a strategic plan for a research and career trajectory can have a big impact on competitiveness for funding. In this 8-week session, we coach faculty to help define their long-term goals, strategies to reach those goals, and to understand the roles they must play to successfully manage and grow a research enterprise. We emphasize creating structures and habits early to support long-term success.
For established faculty members
Moving to the next level in a research career often requires skills that are not taught as part of research training. We use proven leadership development approaches modified for the academic research environment. This small-group program is for established investigators ready to take on higher-level challenges, such as running centers or large collaborative groups.
